<hi style=afpcap>The basic Lockheed Hudson and Lodestar designs were modified to perform a variety of roles including some with a combat capability. Designated the A-28 and A-29, they were fitted with a single 0.50 inch machine gun. The A-28 was designed specifically for export, joining the RAF and RAAF, as was the A-29 although a number of the latter were repossessed for service with the Army Air Force performing crew training and anti submarine duties. Others were modified for photographic reconnaissance, performing charting and survey work in the western Pacific. </hi>
